How would you like to see the back of these fun fairs and scary rides? It is almost impossible to mask your terror as you freefall vertically from zero gravity? Your answer lies in convincing the kids that there may be other ways for the family to have a great time.
One way is to take one of the packaged family adventure holidays. It is not only a lucky escape for the parents, but there is also not single Nintendo in view. The strange and unusual setting is immediately stimulating to the kids.
If I have whet your appetite for active holidays, you should consider a trip of a lifetime with a Galapagos holiday. The islands are part of a volcanic archipeligo situated in the Pacific Ocean, off the coast of South America. The islands straddle the Equator, beginning in the north and ending in the south.
The entire family will enjoy the sense of isolation, not normally experienced in Britain. The language spoken is Spanish, shared with Equador, the nearest mainland country situated to the east. These islands are young geographically speaking, and well known for their large numbers of endemic species. These species were studies by Darwin when on his voyage on the Beagle, a hundred and fifty years ago. He published his Theory of Evolution by natural selection, using his observations and collections. Whilst on the Islands, you will meet the Galapagos Finch which was one of Darwin’s inspirations. During the two weeks of your land holiday, you witness life on all of the islands. Some of the best activities on the trip include walking, swimming and snokelling with the varied underwater wildlife. Have I mentioned the white-tipped and hammer-head sharks? How could you possibly feel swimming amongst these hungry beasts? I admit to feeling a little apprehensive, but the adrenalin rush was amazing. They didn’t seem that bothered by me, and obviously had more tastier things on their minds!
The northern Spanish mountains, and South America are other destinations to consider.
